SECOND SATURDAY “IN CITY” MISSION PROJECT
How We Serve For many years, the FUMC Mission has been providing groceries to Hunter Plaza, a Fort Worth housing development for the elderly and disabled. This housing facility is located two blocks east of the Mission, and the residents in the facility are eligible to receive groceries from the Mission once a month. We deliver groceries to residents who have signed up for the delivery program.
What We Do There are several ways to help: sacking groceries, restocking shelves, loading and unloading trucks, and delivering groceries to the individual apartments.
The Schedule SECOND SATURDAY OF EACH MONTH
Meet your New Horizon Service Officer at the Mission at 9:00 a.m. for a brief training session. Deliveries should be underway by 10 at the latest. Depending on how many individuals sign up, we should be finished by noon.

TARRANT COUNTY AREA FOOD BANK
How We Serve  Our FUMC Mission purchases food from the Tarrant Area Food Bank and distributes it to those in need. Each New Horizon volunteer will earn $5.15/hour credit for the Mission toward offsetting the Church’s monthly Food Bank bill. This project costs the class nothing, just time
The Schedule FIRST THURSDAY EACH MONTH.
Meet around 6:00-6:30 p.m. We’re usually finished by 7:45 p.m. or so. Afterwards, we’ll stop for refreshments.

Directions: From the church, go west on W. 5th Street toward Henderson Street. Turn right onto Henderson. Go about 1 mile across the bridge. Turn left onto Cullen Street. Pass through 2 traffic circles and the Food Bank is on the right
What To Wear Dress comfortably. This is a warehouse and it’s not heated but comfortable. Wear close-toed shoes.

BEANS & RICE
How We Serve Our FUMC Mission receives 50 lb. sacks of both rice and beans. The large sacks are broken into smaller zip-lock bags for distribution to Hunter Plaza for the Second Saturday Food Delivery and for clients who seek help from the FUMC Mission
What We Do The volunteers measure the rice and beans in 2-3 cup increments and seal them in  zip-lock bag for food distribution.
The Schedule ONE WEDNESDAY EACH MONTH
We usually meet between 6:00 and 6:30 pm.
